This is our fourth winter partnering with the City of Toronto to provide round the clock vital cold weather services to some of the most disadvantaged and marginalized members of our Toronto community. Formerly known as Extreme Cold Weather Alert Program (ECWA), the City has rebranded the efforts as Winter Respite Services Program (WRS). Starting on November 15, 2017, St Felix Centre opened its’ doors for continuous operation until April 15, 2018, providing a temporary space for up to 50 guests to spend the night.
During that period of time – besides the 50 spaces available to sleep – our Centre will offer nutritious meals, clothing items and other services for all those in need that come to our doors. At the same time, our Case Management and Housing Services will be ready to support any guests that approach them.
Our Centre is 100% pet friendly. We understand that a person’s entire support system can be their pet – this is particularly true for a person experiencing homelessness. We are making sure that our guests and their four-legged companions are warm and safe through this cold season.
With the Centre operating non-stop during the entire week, the need for support increases exponentially. Please consider making a donation if you are interested in supporting this program, or follow our social media platforms – Instagram, Twitter and our Facebook Fan Page – to be informed about St Felix Centre’s needs during the WRS Program.
